Handling problem solved

I always rotated the tires regularly, so the abnormal wear was not bad. I had attributed the abnormal wear to front end alignment. When you hit a bump when cornering, and there are always irregularities in the road surface, the car would fish tail as the weight transferred from one rear wheel to the other. Acually the negative toe was about 1/4"! I mistated that in my earlier post.

Actually I am installing a Tru-Trac in my 1987 745T right now. I might put the old Volvo clutch type LSD in the wife's car, but I havn't decided yet. The clutch type LSD compromises handling. Since both rear tires are fighting each other in the corners, the rear end wants to break loose at a lower speed with the clutch type LSD. She is not as much into the jack rabbit starts as I am, so there wouldn't be much benefit except when we have ice and snow. We have three sets of studded tires on rims for the now four (usually three) 700 series cars, and they do just fine on ice and snow without the LSD. I have a Toyota LandCruiser for skiing and really tough winter driving.
