AC Why is 134a the standard.???????

Gene,

Thanks much for taking the time. I appreciate it.

I had never really paid attention to any of this, until now. It is an interesting quagmire.

Im assuming, from what Ive learned so far, that the "only one type" rule is because the present level of technology makes it inconvient and to costly to deal with "mixtures" of the different types of coolant. In other words, at this point, its not practical?

I think, Ive also learned that a lot of repair shops push 134a because its just simpler, and less expensive to use something that the industry is already geared for. Right?

But I also get the feeling that something else is going on thats akin to the present fiasco that microsoft finds itself entangled in, relative to windows, monopoly etc. Iam I off base here?

Thanks again

Lawrence

I stumbed across a web site(RecoverAll.com) advertising equipment designed to recover and service "all types of coolant". To me, thats promising, because, I always appreciate a situation where one has choices!
