Power Windows, Exterior Trim (long)

Hey
hope everyone is doing well!
Summer is in full swing for me, which means cars get lots of attention!

1982 242Ti

First order of business tonight was going to be cleaning the fusebox, window switches. Well I started with the window switches and figured since I have not had the door panels off since I bought the car it is probably a good idea to take them off and check/lube everything in there!

To begin with the drivers side window would lower and raise okie, more sluggish on the way up.

Thankfully the connections for the window regulator were nice and tight already! I lubed the tracks, pivot points and everything else. After cleaning the switches that were pretty gummed up, the windows arent much better. Still quite sluggish when raising. Has anyone resoldered the fuel pump relay?

The passenger side has not been cleaned and lubed, drivers side too long and I started @ 10 pm :P

The passenger side is more sluggish in both modes than the drivers. I hope lubing and cleaning will speed it up.

Is the next order of business removing and redoing the window motors? Are all the motors the same? I would assume so, but then again with the larger glass in the 2 door it would have been nice if they fitted larger motors for the extra weight.

One highlight of the fix is the lock, unlock works like a charm now! before it was sporadic in operation.

Exterior trim, the lower jobber below the doors. I had to remove this to fix some rust above the trim, and the front of the quarter panel near the door. I was too anxious and took the trim off and bent parts of it.

Can it be straightened easily? I have some attachment clips that I bought before taking it off, and paying good money I would like to have that trim back on.

Did Volvo use the same trim on all models? 242, 244, 245? I am not sure on the length of all of them, I would *assume* the trim is the same length. When I do get the trim what is the best way to put it on? Trim clips on the body first, then the trim or otherway?

tomorrows order of business - fusebox cleaning, passenger side window stuff, external voltage regulator installation.

thanks much
take care
