The thermal timer probably isn't related to the rough cold idle - it is wired to the starter motor and the cold start injector only opens when the thermal timer is cold AND the starter motor is engaged. Once the engine is fired it turns off anyway. With the cold start circuit out of commission its gets rather tricky to start a D-Jet car - but you can compensate to a large degree by pumping the accellerator pedal a few times before trying to crank it (it fires the injectors a bunch of extra times).
