Chris, I think .022-23 is more than you need. I use 0.020-21 all the time
and that seems OK for hard driving. The main difference you will see with
a little more clearance is more valve noise, and MAYBE slightly diminished
performance due to lower lift and shorter duration, but it is pretty slight.
