UPDATE: Car will not start or run. It left me stranded 700 1992

It could screw the idle speed up. The 214 code is a big problem though. Regardless of the wiring condition, the sensor could be fouled. Replace it with a new one and see if it works.

The sensors are cranky and can cause intermittent signals or fouled timing which would cause erratic running, when it can even run at all. Also random misfires and no-starts can be directly related to that.

One more thing... be very careful removing the sensor so as not to break the mounting bracket. They are VERY fragile. Since you have an automatic, you can use PB Blaster a little bit on the sensor to break it loose. Just be sure you clean out the housing where the sensor fits into. Put a little film of grease on the mounting area of the sensor so that you can get it out "next time" (if there is a next time). Put antiseize on the bolt threads--just a little bit. That should do it.
