Actually, the '90+ B230FT (turbo) makes 195 lbs-ft stock. The pre-'90 turbos make 185 lbs-ft stock I think. The turbo also makes more peak hp as well.

I think the 16-valve engine is a good engine if the proper maintainance is performed. I've been told that they have a pully or something that is of faulty design (original) that should be replaced with a Volvo update if it hasn't been already. I don't know what pully it is, but it has somthing important to do with the T-belt. My mechanic told me that the orignial one is plastic(!) and the replacement is metal. Also, my Vo mechanic said that the T-belts on 16-valves should be replaced every 50K km (30K mi) or something like that just to be safe. I believe that if nothing happens to the T-belt, it's a pretty good engine.......
