Hmm, they definitely did not make any 242's after 84, in any part of the world. (Well, I have heard of a couple of oddball "85" 242s, but no real production)

If you take a look at the Volvoworld detailed production charts, you will see this.

The person who wrote up that photo album must have gotten confused, because those square headlights are not the same units that come on the 86-93 US 240s. I am not sure which models those square lights are on, but they are pretty rare, although I did see a pair on Ebay a while back. It is a Euro headlamp, I know that, and it will probably fit most 242s.

Take note also that in Europe, the 240s from 81-85 got headlights that look just like the headlights that were used in the US from 86-93. The euro lights, however, have glass lenses, use H4 bulbs, and have a much better pattern.
