Check Engine Light 200 1991

If it happens only after a 'warm' restart, but not when it is cold and not when it is fully at operating temperature when you restart it, then the problem you are experiencing is the nature of the beast.

My 1991 has always done that since it was new. I have read posts explaining it (I've forgotton the explanation) and offering suggestions as to how to minimize it, but it is a design issue rather than a mechanical failure. You won't completely eliminiate it.

Good spark plugs, a clean idle control valve, clean fuel injectors, clean air filter, all help to minimize the problem, but once in a while it will idle super slow or die after a warm restart if the engine temperature is just right. If it runs for 10 seconds after the restart, its fine and won't stall. After 12 years and 175k, I'm used to it.

The '87 wagon has never done this, but it doesn't do as well with gas mileage, so I can put up with an occasional stall.
