That's right... the exit is from the top connection to the radiator... or in your case the cooler, if it's seperate. The other part of the return line just sits there unconnected during the flush... don't need to plug it.
I found doing the flush was easier than changing the oil. Just marked out three milk jugs with quart marks... and had my son turning the engine on and off. Every two quarts shut it down and pour in two quarts fresh.
With a little care it's easy to keep an exact tally of the oil in and oil out. I flushed 10 qts.
