Quick test for comp board.

My 1986 244GL has a temp comp board problem that occasionally gets to me, too. Is the engine overheating, or what? If the gauge shows an unexpected reading, here's the test:

Right hand finger-tips lined together like a karate chop with the tips. Hit the instrument cluster where the clear plastic cover meets the bottom, on the right hand side. 10 times. Watch the needle.

It's amazing to a passenger that I can cause the engine to cool down with that percussive maintenance. Actually it jars loose a little of the oxide on the temp comp board contacts.

Good Luck,

Bob
