Running rich and running rough

I believe I am having the same problem with a fuel rich mixture. I HAVE replaced the AMM with a good one (from my other 240). I also exchanged the fuel relay under the glove box only to experience the same stodgy, sputtering acceleration and occasional fixed 5 MPH driving. The catalytic converter burns molten red after long driving. Can I pinpoint the fuel pressure regulator as the culprit? Any suggestions?

Joe
