I swapped the auto tranny in my erstwhile '72 1800E using slightly later model 140 parts (that had the short shifter). As I recall the only thing I had to fabricate was the transmission crossmember. The donor 140 had pedals that fit, as well as a proper cable clutch housing and flywheel. I used the front driveshaft section mated to the 1800's rear section.
