ES PROBLEMS 1800 1973

You have to swap the brake pedal and add the clutch pedal. You need the clutch cable which runs down to the bell housing. You'll need the bellhousing, flywheel (watch out for 8-bolt flywheels - yours is a 6-bolt one), clutch plate, and pressure plate. Don't forget the pilot bearing in the end of the crank and its associated circlip. I personally have never seen a B20 without provision for the pilot bearing, but apparently some later model (probably 8 bolt) cranks that came on auto cars might not be appropriately machined. The transmission needs to have the remote/short shifter style top - not the early 140/120/544 style long shifter. If you are going to all this trouble you should certainly get an M41 (overdrive) equipped transmission, not the more common and much cheaper M40 4 speed. Removing the auto shift linkage will open the appropriiate hole in the tunnel for the shifter. The crossmember will likely not work due to clearance problems with the overdrive, I made a fairly simple one welded up out of a sturdy chunk of metal going across between the crossmember mounts with an angled upward stand for the mount. The driveshaft will either need to come from the donor vehicle or you can take the original one to be shortened. If you have it shortened very carefully measure the differences from the engine side of each bellhousing to the end of the output flange. Measure 3 times, cut once as they say. If you use a donor driveshaft from an OD equipped 140 the rear section will be too long, so just separate at the spline and use the 140/OD front section with the 1800 rear section. The OD will require minor wiring - add a switch somewhere and run 12 volts thru the 4th gear switch on top of the transmission, then thru the solenoid and on to a ground. The speedometer cable may or may not still fit - I think it will fit if your donor tranny has one of those angle drives that points the output forward. Otherwise you will need a new speedo cable.
