No start...HELP! 200 1975

Well, I flipped the wires around, and no start. The fuel smell was so strong I could tell something was wrong. So I pulled the dipstick, and the level was twice as high as it should be. My original fears have come true. The fuel system must be gummed up and dumping fuel into the crankcase. I'll soon be starting a new post "K-JET fuel distribution block" someone here not to long ago said they had taken one apart and cleaned it.
