Now that I think of it, and having already said that air-cooled VWs use a similar hydraulic switch, their pedals work just like on PVs. I wonder if there isn't some aftermarket mechanical switch conversion already made up for those?

Then again, I've been driving VW buses even longer than Volvos (although with much less enthusiasm), and I've had that switch fail repeatedly in Volvos and not a single time in a VW. Why is that, I wonder? Hmmm...
