Alternator conversion 1800 1964

Two choices:

1) Bosch. A '64 block does not have the cast-in "ear" to mount it, but brackets are available from iPd that use the same mounting holes as the generator bracket. You must also get a voltage regulator that's designed for use with the Bosch alternator. If stock appearance is not an issue (well, you'd already be changing that), I'd recommend an adjustable electronic regulator.

2) Remy-Delco. Bracket available from Swedish Embassy. Uses an internal regulator, not adjustable. Available as "el cheapo" rebuilts that are very much not recommended. I've had equally good results with a quality-rebuilt Bosch and Delco.

Not a choice:

3) Marchal/Motorola. This was an OE alternative to the Bosch, uses the same bracket. Uses a different regulator. These have an evil reputation for unreliability, apparently deserved.
