'89 740 radio - need code? 700 1989

i had a sony cd player recently stolen from the car and since i am growing tired of replacing glass (3 vent lites in 2 yrs) i thought a clunky old volvo radio would not be attractive to any aspiring thieves. i bought this radio on e-bay, with no real gaurantee that it works. does it require an additional amp, or is there an internal amp that may be not working? thanks for the quick response...
