Kyle you can take a lot more than .030 off the head if you wish - I normally take at least .050 from the F. As Phil says the thin head gasket is the way to go, certainly cheaper. Here on the west coast I have used the Volvo Penta gaskets as they are consistently the thinnest, but in the aftermarket the Elring B20B set seems to be the thinnest. Volvo never used a domed piston preferring instead to vary compression with head thickness and gasket thickness.
For sure the integrated iron manifold is the way to go.
