78 245 trailing arm problem 200 1978

When I did mine, I had a similar problem. I put my floor jack under the differential, and by raising the axle height, I found it affected the rotational angle of the axle, allowing the bushing to line up with the trailing arm bolt holes.

If this doesn't work, I'm wondering if you could apply the hand brake with the transmission in neutral. Maybe then if you grab the rear wheel, you will be able to apply enough rotational force on the rear axle to bring it into alignment. (You'll need a helper though!). Or would a strap wrench around the rear axle work to help rotate it?
