Another O/D problem 200 1983

Your description is a bit vague but I have had problems with my O/D (86' 245 GL - 5 speed) In my case it is where I have to hold the shifter in a certain position for the O/D to engage and if i don't keep holding it then it will eventually jump out of 5th going over a bump. if this is the problem then it sounds like your 5th ear switch on the tranny. You will need to replace it. But again, your description was a bit too vague. Good Luck
