Well, I did mine and I didn't think it was that hard. Used a Haynes manual. Pump price sounds alittle high(I don't know the exchange rate) The 1.5 labor is pretty reasonable, probably comes out to about $100. If you/they are going to do it, replace the sock filter and the short section of hose also. It's all covered in the FAQs. Check some of the online parts suppliers for prices. As far as do it yourself. If sedan, access is gained through the truck. The only problem, is removing/reinstalling the entire assembly. Kind of tricky. I have never heard that with the nose high, it won't start.(unless you're really low on gas) Normally, failing intank pump, the car will still start, main pump problems, won't start. Mine actually has a separate fuse for the intank pump, so I just started mine, pulled that fuse, and heard the noise/sound change.
