No start- missing ground at fuel relay 700

i missed the original thread so i never saw 87 740t. all turbos are bosch ignition and injection.

the lh 2.2 ecu gets power from the ignition sw at pin 18. this also powers coil 15. are both of these hot with the key on? fuse 1 powers pin 30 at the system relay. ecu pins 11, 19 and 25 are grounds for the ecu, check the ground plate behind the pass side trim next to the ecu. also, make sure both ends of the battery ground are clean and tight; on the frame rail and at the power steering bracket. no power and/or grounds and the ecu won't wake up. ecu pin 21 is the ground supply for relay 86/1. if this is ok, then pull the relay and put a jumper wire between 30 and 87/2. this directly powers the fuel pumps and injectors. does it start now? any chance there's a bad ignition sw?

does the car get spark? is the connector at the dist ok? the harness for that is dedicated straight to the ignition ecu, with a connection in the gang plug above your left knee. that can come apart or the harness can chafe from the left hood hinge. just another thought, doesn't turn on the lh ecu, but once the car turns over, the dist pickup sends a speed signal to again ground the relay. good luck, chuck.
