SR20 into 142 140-160

Thanks for the replies guys,

The driveshaft in the Volvo isn't the thickest around, however have found in the past the driveshafts really only fail when there is mis-allignment or they are not balanced or there is ridiculous amounts of power. Funnily enough the Jag I pulled the IRS unit from with the V12 had a two-piece driveshaft of only slightly larger diameter and design to the 140, and I could imagine that no matter what you do to an SR20DET you will not make the torque that a stock V12 would make (within reason), and torque generally seems to be what kills the driveshaft/diff etc etc, but will see..........

Kyle good point with the suspension, would involve major work to install and I have found the stock 140 stuff to be adequate for the time being. Definately a thing to look at later.

Rear-end wise I find people under-estimate them, what happens is people retro fit a serious motor into an older car and don't rebuild the diff, or even change fluid etc in it and then are surprised that it doesn't hold up, like the driveshaft situation if things are rebuilt and installed properly the stock unit should handle enough power, within reason, that being said the V12 jag centre is a monster (way bigger than the ford 9" I installed in my Charger) so if I do have problems I am sure that would take care of it.

Cheers,

Daz
