OF course, the rust... The big things are the frame supports under the floorboards....easily seen looking under the car. easily seen, that is, if they are still there.
But to me, the biggest issue would be what the asking price is... If its a total steal, just buy it... play around with it and practice... and if it turns out to be too rusty for your liking, you'll at least be familiar with the model when you find a good one for a proper restoration.
If its been sitting a couple years, you might get lucky with the engine. I've bought 'em that sat for as long as 16 years and had no problems. Of course, that was here in fairly dry Colorado...
I'd shy away a bit if its an automatic. They all bad if you like autos... just a little boring compared to the 4spd+OD.
There are a LOT of folks who really know these cars in the Pacific north west... You may well be able to find someone on this board who could inspect it for you. Heck, I'd do it next week, but my trip will not allow the time I'm afraid... Let us know roughly where the car is and someone might chime in though.
