The question is worth? The answer is - what ever you think it's worth! Actually, a 1800ES with light rust and good interior could sell in the $3,000 - $5,000 range depending on the drivetrain. A car with moderate rust, hole(s) in the floor, body panel(s), or anywhere else would be in the $1,500 - $3,000 range. If the car has serious rust in more than two locations, then I would pay less than $1,500 for it.

The most important thing to remember is that in good daily driver condition the car will be worth somewhere in the $6,000 - $9,000 range. Try to gage the amount of work to be done and do reverse math. To end up with a $8,000 car, subtract the paint and body work $4,000, interior parts $1,500, and drivetrain work $1,500. The total of work to be done is around $7,000, so the most I would offer is $1,000. Of course the above figures are all high, but you need to look around in your area at what these things will cost. I have seen people put $20,000 into a restoration, but they will NEVER recover that much.

Bottom line, you would like to buy the car at a reasonable price, experience 1800 ownership and determine if you really want to keep one around. Pay what you consider a fair price, but a price you think you could resell it at, and have fun with your new toy.
