There must be enough fuel flow, I don't know how hard you run your engine, but i regularly see engine speeds of 5000+ rpms and am flooring it quite often(the pump supplies more at these speeds of course, and i have run my tank down low a few times to specifically loosen up rust and get it through and out of the system). It has been rust that is in my filters, and i think the P/O was lying to me about its length of sitting. But it is ok, I did experience times where i couldn't drive the car because it was getting so choked from not enough fuel flowing through the clogged filter. I would have been stranded a couple of times if i didn't have an extra filter with me all the time. This has always been with the clear IPD filters located where you see the met. blue filter in this picture: http://www.super-crush.com/gallery/2004/IMG_5701
And it was rust, not broken down hose. The hose was just replaced, and the particles in the filter are definitely rust. Reddish and all.
I'm just worried about what all that rust has done to my pump. So far no problems with it, and nothing pointing to a coming problem, but i'd like to save it as much as i can...
-My experiences thus far,
p.s. thanks for the controversy, always a good way to learn new things! =D
