Throttling loss is the amount of work an engine has to do to pull against intake vacuum. Accepted rule of operation in gas, not present in diesels.
The danged speedo cable setup I have for the T-5 tranny disconnected itself again this morning, so now I have to start my measurements again. It give a further purpose to my commute.
The misfire at idle is one weak cylinder, I'm pretty sure. This is all speculative experimentation anyhow; the engine has 105K on it.
Thanks for the perspective and consensus. I'll add some advance now, and go by feel for a bit, then measure again. I'll repost when I have numbers.
