I hope this is not what I think it is ... 700 1992

Not any specific cause -- could be no fire, could be no fuel, could be no air, could be no compression.

Whatever the cause, it results in no combustion, which equals a misfire.

I remember chasing a screwball rough idle on one of my cars (turned out to be vac leaks) -- it wasn't one specific cylinder, but all four were stumbling. I learned that in 60 seconds by feeling that all four exhaust headers were equally warm. In other words, all four had the same level of crummy performance at idle.

If you have one specific cylinder that's misbehaving, this technique can help identify it quickly. Then you can move to other diagnostics to determine the cause.
