electrical/stalling problem 200 1987

Yes! It sounds very much like a wiring harness problem, and the primary places to look are under and behind the alternator, around the starter solenoid, and one other I'll get to in a second.
You need to look closely at the large red wire and small red wire coming from the alternator, running under the front pulleys and around to the rest of the harness. IT's a major trouble spot on all 240s, but the 87 is vulnerable as the last year of defective insulation.
Here's what mine looked like before cleaning (and I DO have a good harness in my 87, though the car was filthy at this time.)

The other place I'd check, which can cause stalling and drove me nuts with a different 87 240, is the plug at the AMM in the LF fender. Inspect the 6-pin plug metal fingers for damage or pushing back. Make certain it's seated well. DO this with the key OFF.
One other spot is this plug, a 2-wire grey plug under or behind your coil. MAke certain it's clean, corrosion-free and fully seated. Also caused intermittent stall or no-start.
Good luck!
