electrical/stalling problem 200 1987

I just replaced the same set of wires yesterday, but still getting the same problem. Bundled in with the two red wires from the alternator, there was another one that I only guess is the oil pressure sensor (right next to oil filter??) A continuity check wouldn't have worked for mine because the insulation on both smaller diameter wires was completely gone allowing both wires to contact along most of the length (the check would have worked but not really helped any.) It took me a couple of hours to get the rewiring completed, but I'm certainly not the fastest worker. BTW, I did take the sheathing off and didn't replace it with anything. Water had become trapped inside the sheathing and just sped up the entire process. I figure if I leave it open it can at least dry out.
