Well the regulator/brush assembly was pretty bad on mine and I'm definitely not getting the voltage I should be getting so I ordered a replacement. No good, same problems, thought the warning lights come on brighter now. I think the next step is to either test the harness or or take out the alternator like you did and take to a shop.
