Roof Headlining 700 1989

You can easily replace your headliner if you want. Here's the quick instruction:

1. Remove interior window trim and dome light, etc.
2. Carefully remove headliner foam core from roof and take out via the rear.
3. Peel off old headliner material.
4. Scrape/sand off any old foam rubber clinging to the styrofoam.
5. Obtain new headliner material and spray adhesive from an auto upholstery supplier. Interestingly, my neighborhood ladies fabric store carries about half a dozen colors of headliner - go figure.
6. Make sure you get the headliner spray adhesive from the upholstery shop. Don't use the stuff from Home Depot (3M) as it will give up on a hot day and let the HL sag down again (AMHIK).
7. Lay out material and cut 1 to 2 inches larger than styrofoam backer.
8. Fold one half back over the other half down the center.
9. Spray material and foam core and allow to dry to a tack.
10. Carefully smooth material onto foam core making sure no wrinkles.
11. Fold other half back over and repeat.
12. Glue edges back over.
13. Reinstall - total cost probably $30
