HI,
The upholstery pins(cork screws) will work if they'll hold. It depends on the condition of the foam backing. If its really, really crumbly they wont hold long.

I replaced my headliner a couple of years ago and im happy that I did it.
If you like your car and intend to keep it, its the only way to go. Replace it.
