New engine 700

I just threw a rod in my 88 760 turbo. My question is, I really want to make this volvo fast and I dont think i want to invest in a v8 swap, which year of the B230FT engine is the strongest and can take the most performance mods reliably. Currently...before it died... I had the ipd sport exaust fitted and the eurosport tunning intake.

Thanks for any help!
