I'm sticking with a stock B20E as the car is being autocrossed in SCCA's FSP class, which allows update/backdate, but not much else.
I just took the E and F head over to my "head guy" Looks like the recut of the 74 F's seats didn't work very well..recessed within 5k miles. So..that head is now just a parts head. Looks like I can easily get 8 good valves from the two heads. The E head looks ok in the seat area, could be cut, but then you expose softer metal...and I'd be in the same boat in 5k miles. So, new seats are being pressed in. The guides actually look/feel very tight, so I don't have to worry about those.
Thanks for the suggestions. This will be my first disassembly/assembly of a short block, so I'm trying to get all the info I can.
