I agree with the others that $2K seems overpriced for the condition you describe. OTOH, automatic wagons are very rare -- '68 was the only year it was offered, and I believe only in the US market. It was not a popular option on the wagon. If you want a wagon and must have automatic, you're not likely to find another one. Unlike later Volvo models, it's difficult to convert a manual car to automatic, and vice versa.
The tranny is really only a two speed, plus a passing gear that doesn't engage in normal driving. It's definitely not for the speed demon. In good shape (*properly* rebuilt), it's durable and capable of handling far more power than a normal 122 generates. In not-so-good shape, it's best used as a boat anchor.
Note also that wagons have stump-puller gearing, so are not really suitable for freeway speeds. Consider your intended use for the car -- as a local runabout, it's quite workable.
