M41 Project update 1800

About dropping out of gear: synchros could, of course, be the problem, but before you mess with them, make sure the three detent balls and springs are clean and moving freely. I had an M40 that wouldn't stay in third and was all set to start tearing it apart when I turned it upside-down with the cover off and noticed that the detent balls wouldn't fall out. A spritz of carb cleaner solved the problem and returned crispness to all shifts. Maybe you'll get lucky too.
