Oh My! 444-544

John,
I went to have a look at the car today, as did Duncan LaBay and several local old Volvo enthusiasts. My general assessment is that the car is restorable but not for the fainthearted. I don't think it is a candidate for a Virgil type project -- too much body work required. It's more for someone who wants it for its rarity and is willing to spend big bucks to restore it to original if he doesn't have the bodywork skills to do it himself. It is the basic model, brought over from Sweden, probably in 1953 or 54. It still has the Swedish dealer plaques on the hood and a Swedish instrument panel (speedometer in kilometers). I'd love to have it, but am not bidding because with what I can still do on my 544 and 142E I've got enough projects to last me for the rest of my days. The car is straight. It has not been messed with and it's all there. If you or anyone else would like more details, contact me off-line.
Bob S.
