carbs...again. 140-160

Jeff,

If you decided to keep the Weber DGV, here is a link to a modification you might want to consider:

http://www.zeebuck.com/bimmers/tech/dgvjetting.html

I completed this modification on my manual choke Weber and it really made a difference. Smoother throttle response, no hesitation, and definitely more ooomph (is that a word?)

The final jetting on my particular setup was a bit different however. With a B20, D cam, 2.25" exhaust, my jetting was as follows (primary/ secondary):

155/ 190 main 150/ 160 air correction 65/ 60 idle

Somebody I know did this on his B18, but the jetting was as follows:

150/ 180 main 170/ 180 air correction 55/ 55 idle

Very important that you plug the small brass orifice in carb top, or this modification won't work correctly. I like the idea of using a piece of toothpick as mentioned in article; I used JB Weld, so I can never go back to the way it once was if I needed to. Don't exactly understand why/ how this modification improves performance, but it sure seems to help!

Every car is different, so I can't say for sure if any of these values will be optimal for your application, but I really like how the modification worked on my car. I originally heard about this from a speed shop in Southern California called Top End Performance. Told them what I had in the engine compartment, and they sold me the various jets (they call it a performance jetting kit).
