pulley problems 1800

If you have the press-on style of pulley you may be able to pull it out on the shaft a little. An "air conditioner" pulley (two-groove) may work by using the outer groove.

To reiterate, alignment of the pullies is critical (the axis of the alternator must be perpendicular to the plane of the pullies too!).
