Is it safe to drive with just an IPD header? 1800

When my '67 arrived in Oakland after being shipped from Italy, the header pipe was broken just in front of the muffler. Drove it from Oakland to Auburn - about 3 hours - and had a ball. Lloud, sporty and, with the Italian plates, the CHP just looked as I went by. No problems, no damage, and yes, I checked underneath for any close flammable/wiring, etc.
