the old water pump was a volvo unit, the new one is a hepu. But it's looking like either the new water pump is bad or the radiator has gotten clogged (it worked fine before I took it out of the car). I'm done working on it for the day, but tomorrow I'm going to flush the radiator and try to test the water pump. I'm thinking of running the engine without the thermostat and the upper hose disconnected from the radiator in a bucket. If water comes out of the hose when the engine is on, the pump must be working. Has anyone tried this?
