I had the same problem with my 90 740gle. Turned out to be the amm. Unplug it and see if it stops surging.Also my problem I believe was caused because I forgot to change the air box thermostat which in turn fried the amm. Hope this helps. Ps got another amm online ,alot chaper than new. 87 240 153k,90740gle 152K
