Sam,
Timing belt, swap it. Water pump, just have them check it for looseness, it should be OK. Tensioner, swap it.
Let the techies check out your car. When they tell you the tranny is a piece of junk, ask them what they think about reputable junk yards. Much cheaper than a rebuilt.
