Hey- it's only money right?

Seriously- if your battery is holding a charge of around 12 volts, I'd say your alternator is A'OK.

If it were me and it was a 3 year old battery I would replace it. Batteries are relatively cheap ( $50- to- $100) and easy to DIY.

The see where you are - before spending the money for a new altenator installation ( probably around $450 parts and labor).
