IIRC, you live up in MN, so you get a lot of snow, and probably DO want the AWD...and that's going to be an expensive system to get going again on this car. I'd look out for another R or even an XC with working AWD.

I looked at a 98 XC the other day for $2000 with working AWD (a huge + to find anymore) that needed maybe $500 worth of work to get back in good shape & get the check engine light turned off.
