Isn't MN great? -30 to +103. And we expect the ECC to compensate for all of that? Of course we do.
The compressor does have a thermostat switch all by itself. If the internals get too hot, it turns off. Some on Volvospeed have cut the wires and negated the switch, which works. But, I think there might be a compressor life reason the engineers thought of that us mortals cannot fathom.
I just turn up the heat to 76F on both dials and lower the blower speed. If you leave the blower on auto, the recirc kicks in and with the cabin at 130+ and the outside air at 100, I prefer outside air mixed in. Besides, the faster the air flows through the evaporator, the less cooling it does and returns warm gas to the compressor. That is the catch22, I believe.
