Very happy with my 2000 S40. Fun to drive, lots of power, lots of extras are standard, no real problems, excellent safety features & crash test results. My girlfriend went car shopping with friends who were buying before she bought her last car late 1999, and she was very impressed with my s40 for the money. she paid about the same for a lot less, but just had to have a miata.

my biggest complaint is mediocre visibility over my left shoulder, but depends on your size. the standard seat is very adjustable.

sometimes i notice a slight power lag, probably the turbo, but not bad or often. whenever i really needed power, it's been there.

the 2000 standard radio isn't very good.

it's by far the best car i've driven.
