Keith - thanks so much ... you're right, I've been monkeying with the high pressure switch and high temp cut out to get the compressor to run (at least I think it's running). Last night, however, I left those switches alone and I did an environmental no-no (and maybe a repair no-no) and manually lowered the pressure by depressing the valve stem on the low side input valve. I lowered the pressure from 120 PSI (system not running)to about 30 PSI (not running), started the car and the blue A/C indicator light came on and stayed on and I believe the compressor ran (engine dipped) but no cold air was produced. It ran until the pressure reached about 45 PSI, then it shut down. Frustrated, I decided to "clear" the system and manually took the pressure to zero, then recharged it with, I believe, the compressor running, to about 30 PSI with 12 oz. of R134 and 2 oz. oil. Started everything back up, but no cold air was produced and the A/C indicator stayed on until the pressure built back up to 45 PSI, then it shut off.

Based on your advice, I'll jumper the compressor and see if the clutch kicks in. I'm baffled, afraid I've really screwed things up, and assume my compressor is shot. Thoughts?
